Logistics Executive - FMCG

Key Responsibilities

• Warehouse Operations: Coordinate day-to-day activities across the Company’s storage facilities, ensuring incoming and outgoing goods are handled efficiently and storage areas remain orderly and secure.
• Inventory Management: Establish effective stock management practices, maintain reliable inventory records and coordinate periodic physical counts to confirm system quantities against actual stock.
• Cost Control: Keep track of expenditure associated with inventory, transportation and storage activities, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and make better use of operational resources.
• ERP Data Management: Maintain accurate logistics-related product and inventory information within the Company’s ERP system, ensuring records remain complete and current.
• Stock Discrepancies: Review differences identified between physical inventory and system records, establish the underlying cause and introduce measures aimed at preventing similar issues.
• Process Improvement: Review existing logistics practices and introduce practical improvements that enhance productivity, accuracy and the overall movement of goods.
• Team Leadership: Guide and support warehouse personnel, monitor individual and team performance, provide direction where required and encourage high standards of accountability.
• Training and Development: Share operational knowledge with colleagues and provide appropriate instruction to help team members perform their responsibilities safely and effectively.
• Health and Safety: Promote safe working practices throughout warehouse activities and ensure machinery and handling equipment are operated responsibly.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with colleagues, suppliers, service providers and other relevant parties to maintain effective coordination across logistics activities.
• Operational Procedures: Support the introduction and consistent application of processes and working practices that contribute to reliable and controlled logistics operations.
• Hands-On Support: Provide practical assistance within the warehouse when necessary, including covering Storekeeper duties and using equipment such as forklifts and pallet-handling machinery where required.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Education: A diploma in logistics, supply chain management, operations or another relevant discipline would be preferred. Candidates with suitable practical experience may also be considered.
• Experience: Previous experience within logistics, warehousing or distribution is required, together with the ability to coordinate warehouse activities and supervise or lead employees.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the confidence to exchange information clearly with colleagues and external parties.
• Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative approach with the ability to build positive working relationships, guide colleagues and contribute effectively within a team environment.
• Technical Skills: Practical experience using ERP software for logistics or inventory purposes, together with good proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. The ability to use relevant warehouse handling equipment is also required.
• Organisation: Strong planning and coordination abilities, with the capacity to manage stock activities, warehouse priorities, physical inventory counts and operational requirements effectively.
• Self-Motivated: Able to take ownership of responsibilities, work with limited supervision and remain proactive in a busy operational environment.
• Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying operational or inventory-related issues, analysing their causes and implementing practical corrective measures.
• Analytical Skills: A methodical approach to reviewing stock information, operational costs and logistics performance, with good attention to accuracy and detail.
• Leadership: Able to provide clear direction, encourage employees and support the development of team members through coaching and practical guidance.
